A 68-year-old man who was admitted to a Faro hospital awaiting transfer to the Portuguese Institute of Oncology (IPO) in Lisbon died of diffuse large B-cell lymphoma, which corresponds to a malignant tumor of the lymphatic system associated with a brain infection.

Francisco Guerreiro had a head biopsy that revealed lymphoma. He was in an artificial coma due to the deterioration of his condition.“My father was waiting for a transfer. Scans showed he had an infection in his brain, and they drained the fluid.
