The Prime Minister of Portugal met this Wednesday on the sidelines of the summit of heads of state and government of the Council of Europe with his Ukrainian counterpart and with the leader of the movement for democracy in Belarus.

These meetings in Reykjavik with Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Shmygal and with human rights activist and democratic leader of Belarus Svetlana Tikhanovskaya were published on Antonio Costa’s official Twitter account.

“On the sidelines of the Council of Europe summit, I met with Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmygal, to whom I once again expressed our support,” wrote the head of the executive branch of Portugal.

Regarding the meeting with Svetlana Tikhanovskaya, the Prime Minister said that he expressed Portugal’s support for the “democratic transition” in Belarus.

Among other bilateral meetings, António Costa also met with the Prime Minister of the Netherlands, Marka Rutte, where “topics on the European agenda” were analyzed.
