The Administrative and Tax Court of Sintra (TAFS) forced the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) to disclose, among other documents, the contracts of former coach Fernando Santos, a decision that will be appealed.
The TAFS decision came after a request from Expresso journalists, citing an FPF source citing Lusa agency, that the body would appeal to the South Central Administrative Court (TCAS).
According to the court decision, which Lusa had access to, TAFS says the “requests for access” made by the three journalists of the weekly newspaper were “partially valid, so the FPF will have to provide some necessary documentation within 10 days.
The FPF will have to assign “all employment and/or service contracts signed between the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) and Fernando Santos since 2014, including the relevant amendments and additions.”
The applicants also requested access to “employment and/or service agreements signed since 2011 between FPF and all members of its management”, as well as “all service agreements signed between FPF and companies”, which Fernando Santos and board members “have been or are partners, shareholders and/or beneficial owners”.
In relation to this request, TAFS decided that the FPF should “provide access to any existing documents if they have financial problems related to serving as board members or with companies, partners, shareholders and / or beneficial owners.”
It is about the alleged misuse of one-person companies to process income from work, a mechanism used to pay less taxes.
On May 10, at a hearing before the Culture, Communications, Youth and Sports Committee of the Assembly of the Republic, FPF President Fernando Gómez confirmed that the organization “has no unexpected financial expenses.”
“The contract of Fernando Santos is public. Due to this situation, our decision, while there is no final decision, is that the contract with [o atual selecionador] Roberto Martinez is a clean and simple employment contract. This information has also been made public,” he said.
