ELA has won the union elections at the plant Mercedes Benz of Vitoriasurpassing the UGT, which was the one that prevailed four years ago, union sources have reported.
With the results obtained this Thursday, the union block that rejected the agreement this past summer, ELA, LAB and ESKexceed those who signed it with the direction of the multinational: UGT, CCOO, Ekintza and PIM.
With a 87.5% participation of the staff in the voting, ELA has got 9 representatives in the committee; UGT 6; lab 5; CCOO 4; ESK 4 and Ekintza 1.
PIM, without representation
PIM, which had 3 representatives in the previous committee, has been left without a presence.
In the last elections held in November 2018, 31 members of the committee were elected, and today 29 have been elected due to the reduction in staff compared to the previous time.
Then UGT won with 7 delegates, the same as ELA; CCOO and LAB each achieved 4 members, and Ekintza, PIM and ESK 3 representatives respectively.
The committee has been chaired by Igor Gevara, from ELA, who with the support of LAB and ESK and the abstention of the four CCOO members surpassed the sum of the rest of the unions.
Two union blocs
In recent months there have been two very separate union blocs at the plant: on the one hand, UGT, CCOO, Ekintza and PIM, and on the other ELA, LAB and ESK.
The former agreed with the management of the company last July on the agreement to renew the collective agreementwhich was endorsed by 57% of the squad after a year and a half of negotiations.
The referendum was held after a few weeks of intense tension at the plant in which production was halted for nine days due to strikes.
