Sporting’s call to include Adana in the derby was “spam” by the Disciplinary Board.

The full FPF Disciplinary Board has rejected Adana’s appeal, which is likely to remove the Sporting goalkeeper from participating in Sunday’s derby with Benfica. In addition to that, Ruben Amorim has already said that Franco Israel will be first in goal, no matter what the referee decides.

As part of the process in which he was punished with a one-game suspension after being sent off by Maritimo, Adan did not invoke his previous defense. This is because the e-mail with the document ended up in the Spam folder on the CD.

On appeal, Sporting’s legal department asked that this process be declared invalid, since it is mandatory for the players to be heard even in the most brief form – this is a requirement after the Paligny case.

The CR Plenum dismissed this argument, stating that the body of the FPF was irrelevant to the fact that the email went to “spam”. He says that Sporting had to make sure that the documentation arrived in a good port. Moreover, he points out that Sporting did not use, as is usually the case, a specific venue for the presentation of the defense.

Under full CD’s guidance, Sporting CP can still appeal the penalty to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, with a precautionary measure that will suspend the application of the penalty against Adana. But it’s almost impossible that even the South Administrative Central Court will be notified in time to make a decision before Sunday’s 8:30 pm derby.

“Because Adan turned red, in my head Franco was going to play,” Ruben Amorim said at lunchtime yesterday before CD made the decision public, adding: “If Adan is decriminalized, at most he will go to the bank. Who will play is Franco Israel.
