All the associations of judges and prosecutors, except the Professional Association of the Magistracy (APM) – the majority of judges – have reached an agreement with the Government of Spain to raise the salary by about 450 euros per month. The pact will be signed this Tuesday.
The General Council of the Judiciary has convened an extraordinary plenary session this coming Wednesday (10:00 a.m.) to assess the proposal on the adequacy of remuneration for judges and magistrates negotiated by the Spanish Government with the associations of judges and prosecutors.
Last week, all associations of judges and prosecutors, except the Professional Association of the Magistracy (APM) —the majority and of a conservative tendency— reached an agreement with the Ministries of Justice and the Treasury to avoid an indefinite strike and accepted the offer of 46.7 million euros, which translates into an additional 450 euros per month that will be applied to the entire career.
Six of the seven associations of judges and prosecutors closed the last “fringes” of the negotiation on Thursday and called off the strike that four of them had planned for this Monday.
The official signing of the pact will take place tomorrow, Tuesday, at 1:00 p.m.
