Thirteen mainland counties issued a yellow warning due to rain and thunderstorms

According to the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA), thirteen areas of the Portuguese mainland will be under a yellow warning on Tuesday due to the forecast for heavy rainfall and thunderstorms.

Faro, Évora, Beja, Setubal, Portalegre, Lisbon, Leiria, Castelo Branco, Santarém, Coimbra, Aveiro, Viseu and Guarda will be under warning from 18:00 to 21:00 on Tuesday due to the forecast for showers, sometimes heavy , in places with hail, accompanied by strong gusts of wind and thunderstorms.

A Yellow Alert is issued by IPMA whenever a risk situation arises for certain weather dependent activities.

IPMA is predicting periods of very cloudy skies this Tuesday across the continent, occasional heavy rains with hail accompanied by thunderstorms and gusts of strong winds, especially in the Central and South regions and in the afternoon.

The forecast also indicates light to moderate winds, strong in places in the highlands in the north and center, heading northwest in the afternoon, especially on the west coast, and a slight increase in temperature.

Minimum temperatures will range from 10 degrees Celsius (in Leiria and Guarda) to 16 (in Porto), while maximum temperatures will range from 21 (in Guarda) to 30 (in Braga and Santarem).
