Two consecutive attacks on schools in the Brazilian city of Aracruz in the Brazilian state of Espirito Santo this Friday left at least three people dead and 11 injured. Until 13:00 local time, 16:00 Lisbon, the police had not yet released the identity of the victims.
A large joint force of the military police and judicial police of Aracruz was at the time conducting an intensive hunt for the shooter, who fled in a car after the attack. Contrary to the initial report, when it was said that the shooters belonged to a group of people dressed in military clothing, the new information provided by the Espírito Santo police is that the two attacks were carried out by the same man, apparently young.
First, the shooter entered a primary and secondary school in Praia do Coqueiral, 22 km from the center of Aracruz, and opened fire. He went straight to the staff room, which may indicate that he already knew the place, and fired a series of shots that killed two people and injured four.
Shortly thereafter, the killer got into his car and drove to another school, a real private one, located on the same avenue, which he also fired at. One person died and five others were injured in this facility.
Back in his car, the shooter fled at high speed and is being actively sought in the area of Aracruz, a city of 100,000 people located 85 kilometers from Espírito Santo’s capital, Vitoria. Until that time, the police did not disclose any more information about the attacks, namely suspicions about the identity of the shooter and the motives of the crimes.
