The former financial administrator of TAP said this Thursday that he believes the European Commission’s approval of the restructuring was behind the airline’s privatization, although he does not remember this being mentioned in the plan or in a communication with Brussels.
“I think that the reorganization of TAP will go through its privatization, I believe that this was at the heart of the approval process for the reorganization of TAP,” João Gameiro replied to Deputy Pedro Filipe Soares in the airline’s commission of inquiry.
The MP for Bloco de Esquerda (BE) asked about the negotiations on the TAP restructuring plan with the European Commission, which will approve it in December 2021, and about the intention to privatize the company again.
