The metal unions of Bizkaia start this Monday a strike for five consecutive days for “a decent agreement” after this past Friday they rejected the last offer made by the Biscayan Federation of Metal Companies (FVEM).
All the representative trade union centrals of the sector –ELA separately, and LAB, CCOO and UGT, jointly– have decided to maintain the call and continue the strikes, this time for five days, considering “insufficient” the employer’s proposal.
FVEM offered, during the meeting on November 25, salary increases of 6.5% for 2022, 3.5% for 2023, 2.5% for 2024 and 1.5% for 2025, which represents a total of 14% throughout the period of validity 2022-2025.
However, the unions, which to date have carried out six days of strikes, they rejected the proposal and they decided to maintain the call for 24-hour strikes from November 28 to December 2.
From CCOO, LAB and UGT they accused the FVEM of “staging a farce” in the last meeting of the negotiating table of the agreement, which “forces the sector to go on strike”, already accumulating 11 days of strikes.
For its part, ELA described the proposal of the Biscayan Metal employers’ association as “very insufficient” and warned that “there are more reasons than ever to fight” for an agreement that “not only guarantees immediate increases in the CPI for the entire sector, with guarantees of application, but also reduce the working day and increase the rights“.
