The Public Security Police (PSP) arrested on Wednesday two people suspected of carrying out private security activities without the required legal qualifications, in the Vila Nova de Gaia area, in the Porto region, as announced this Saturday.
Police officers from the Private Security Department of the PSP, as part of their routine inspection activities, established the practice of illegal private security activities of two people “without uniforms”.
The suspects said they “secured the facilities and their perimeter in accordance with instructions received from their employer,” according to a PSP press release sent this Saturday to Lusa.
According to the police, the behavior of both suspects is likely to constitute a crime of illegal private security, namely because they perform “private security functions without a professional card” and “without having an employment relationship with a properly qualified person” . realize activity”.
The detainees were notified of their appearance before the judicial body.
According to the current legislation, the implementation of the functions of private security in the specialty of a security guard includes, in particular, monitoring and protecting people and property in places inaccessible to the public, preventing the commission of crimes, as well as controlling the entrance, presence and departure of people.
The PSP reminds that only “pre-qualified individuals who have a professional title, are properly dressed and equipped, and have an employment relationship with a company authorized to operate in this particular sector” can carry out private security activities.
