Pedro Guerra was sentenced this Thursday to pay a total of 11,000 euros for libel and insult to FC Porto. The commentator will have to pay five thousand euros to the club, three thousand to President Pinto da Costa and three thousand to manager Luis Gonçalves.
The verdict was known this afternoon at the Bolhao court in Porto.
The verdict came after Porto sued Pedro Guerra for the comments. program “Prolongamento” on TVI24 in 2018, in which Pedro Guerra mentioned that FC Porto knew in advance about the appointments of the referees regarding the replacement of Fabio Verissimo with Carlos Xistra in the game between B SAD and FC Porto – no comment at the time, it would also be publicly available that the replacement was due to the death of a family member of the first judge.
In the final charges, prosecutors asked to convict the sports commentator, believing that his behavior in the facts under consideration “exceeds freedom of speech” and “is aimed at arousing suspicion.” The lawyer pointed out that the defendant “did not commit any crime.”
