Five prison guards caught a 24-year-old prisoner who escaped from the Santa Cruz do Bispo prison in Matosinhos on May 23 this year.
At that time, the prisoner, with due permission, went to the laundry room of the prison, where there should not have been surveillance. In this space, he found an open door to the gardens. The young man quickly got out, jumped over the wall and disappeared.
Now at large, with the help of a few friends, he hid from the authorities for about two weeks.
During this period, five guards did not stop working and even during breaks they collected information about the possible whereabouts of the prisoner.
At 1:30 this Monday night in Povoa de Varzim, the prison guards seized the prisoner again.
The young man has a criminal record for theft and domestic violence, and served time for drug dealing. Disciplinary measures will be taken against him, including the transfer of the young man to another prison.
Before the CM, Frederico Morais of the National Union of Prison Guards praises the professionalism of the prison guards, who, even on vacation, refused to communicate with their families in order to guarantee the safety of the community.
