The Nine Teachers’ Union Platform submitted a strike notice this Wednesday on June 15 and 20, for the assessment tests of the 1st Cycle of Basic Education (Year 2).
The platform consists of the Federal Association of Licensed Teachers (ASPL), the National Federation of Teachers (Fenprof), the National Federation of Education (FNE), the Pro-Ordem of Teachers (Pró-Ordem), the Union of Educators and Licensed Teachers (Sepleu). ), the National Union of Educational Professionals (Sinape), the National and Democratic Union of Teachers (Sindep), the Independent Union of Teachers and Educators (SIPE), and the National Union of Teachers Licensed by Polytechnics and Universities (Spliu).
Teachers have been on strike for months now with career-related demands, namely a frozen progression time countdown (six years, six months and 23 days), most recently on Tuesday, during which thousands of teachers took to the streets in the north and south countries to “demand respect” and ask for six years, six months and 23 days of free service.
Despite the pronounced fatigue from the battle, they promise “not to stop.”
Fenprof general secretary Mario Nogueira said during the protest that teachers “intend to fight now” and, if necessary, in the next academic year, given that the ministry, led by Joao Costa, “is taking away the school and the profession from teachers in order to wither.” .
The platform of nine teachers’ organizations promises a new protest on Saturday in Peso da Régua, where June 10th is celebrated.
