A 23-year-old Russian was killed by a tiger shark at a resort in Egypt. Yuri Popov, Vladimir’s father, told the Daily Mail that he was with his son when the animal attacked him.
The man says that “it all happened in seconds” and recalls the last words of his son. “Daddy, save me,” he said.
According to the Daily Mail, no one was on the beach with the young man at the time of the attack. Some initial reports claimed that Vladimir’s girlfriend managed to get out of the water in time.
“This is a completely ridiculous coincidence, because this is a safe beach. There are ships and yachts around. Nothing has ever happened there. They usually attack wild beaches,” the boy’s father said.
The shark was later caught and beached by a boat before being killed. Egyptian authorities have confirmed that the animal has been handed over for investigation. The goal is to find out the reasons behind his behavior and determine if the animal is related to the animal that “caused several previous accidents”.
