The Bica area won this year’s Lisbon People’s Marches, announced on Tuesday by the Equipment and Cultural Animation Management Company (EGEAC), responsible for organizing the initiative.
Bairro Alto came in second and Alfama in third, EGEAC said in a statement.
Another 17 groups competed this year: Marvila (4th), Alto do Pina (5th), Alcantara (6th), Madragoa (7th), Carnide (8th), Peña- de France (9th), Muraria (10th), Sao Vicente (11th), Bairro da Boavista (12th), Belen (13th), Castelo (14th) 1st), Olivais (15th), Santa Engracia (16th), Graça (17th), San Domingos de Benfica (18th), Ajuda (19th) ). ) and Lumiar (20th place).
EGEAC also noted other awards: Alfama and Bica won in the Best Choreography category, while Alfama and Lumiar won Best Set Design.
The best costume design was awarded to Alcantara, Alfama and Madragoa. The award for the best text went to Alfama and Bica.
Alfama also won Best Musicality and Best Original Composition with “A Sina do Estivador” along with “A Vedeta é Carnide” by Carnide.
The best parade on the avenue went to the Bairro Alto and Bica marches.
The Lisbon Schools Children’s March opened the 89th edition of the parade on Avenida da Liberdade, followed by three out-of-competition marches: Santa Casa, Voice of the Opera and Mercados, as indicated by EGEAC in the same note.
