The workers of CP – Comboios de Portugal are going on a 24-hour strike this Wednesday along with the workers of Infraestruturas de Portugal (IP), with CP and Fertagus predicting traffic riots.
“KP” reported that in connection with the strike organized by organizations representing workers, disruption of trains at the national level is expected this Wednesday.
In a statement released on Tuesday, CP said that “the minimum services that can be viewed” have been defined on the company’s website and that “customers who have already purchased tickets for Alfa Pendular, Intercidades, Internacional, InterRegional and Regional flights, will be allowed, in the total amount of the purchased ticket, or its free reissuance to another train of the same category and the same class.
“A refund or re-check can be made in myCP in the “Your Tickets” section (for tickets purchased in the “online” box office and in the CP application) no later than 30 minutes before the departure of the train from the client’s station of departure, as well as in at the box office and, in case of a refund, at cp.pt by filling out the “online” form, sending a scan of the original ticket with name, postal address, IBAN and NIF, within 10 days after the end of the strike”, indicates the CP.
In addition, Fertagus, which connects Lisbon and Setúbal by train, “expects to be able to do 25% of its normal work day today” due to a strike at IP, the organization that manages rail traffic.
In a note published on its website, the carrier that operates this railway line passing through the April 25 bridge, after paying an IP fee, provides a schedule foreseen on the day of the stop, within which “minimum services have been established.”
Fertagus stressed that adherence to these schedules depends on the impact of the strike and advises users to use alternative transport whenever possible.
IP warned in information posted on its website that “train disruptions may occur throughout the day.”
This Wednesday, CP workers are on strike for 24 hours along with IP workers, demanding a financial bonus to mitigate the effects of inflation and uphold the Agreement with the company.
According to the National Union of Railway Workers, a member of the Federation of Transport and Telecommunications Trade Unions, the strike was caused by “a lack of response from the administration/government that does not take into account the reality of the brutal devaluation of wages.” .
According to a report posted on the website of DGERT – the General Directorate of Employment and Labor Relations, the unions and the CP have reached an agreement on the performance of a minimum service of 25%.
