Wilson Manafa is heading to Trabzonspor for a free transfer to the Turkish club. The 29-year-old defender’s contract with Porto ends at the end of this month without a renewal. This “free” exit represents a loss of value in the order of seven million euros.
Step by step. Manafa arrived at Porto for the 2018/19 winter market. At the time, he was hired as an alternative to Alex Telles on the left, who was an undisputed starter. With the advantage to also be able to play on the right. FC Porto’s SAD then paid €3 million for 60 percent of the transfer. In the remainder of the season, he played in 17 games and scored one goal.
In the next two seasons (2019/20 and 2020/21) he showed the best results, playing 45 and 48 games respectively. This prompted Porto to buy the remaining 40 percent of the pass for another €4 million. Since then, it has only been used in 20 more games in two seasons. He is leaving now at no cost, as happened recently with Uribe.
