A 30-year-old man arrested for attempted murder, throwing flammable objects and setting fire to a man in Madeira has been taken into custody, a court source said on Thursday.
Filipe Camara, president of the Madeira Comarca court, told Lusa that the suspect was present at a hearing of a criminal judge this Thursday as he was charged with the “crime of qualified murder in the form of attempt”.
According to Filipe Camara, the most serious measure of restraint in the form of pre-trial detention was applied to him.
The Judicial Police (SP) said this Thursday in a statement that they had apprehended the suspect, adding that the 34-year-old victim had severe burns to a large part of his body “which posed a danger to her life.”
The SP refers to the fact that the incident took place on Tuesday evening in the parish of Caniçal, in the municipality of Machico, in connection with a misunderstanding caused by the use of drugs.
