At least 25 people have died in a “terrorist attack” on a school in western Uganda, a police spokesman for the East African nation said Saturday.
Members of the Alliance of Democratic Forces (ADF) attacked Lubirira High School in Mpondwe on Friday, setting fire to a dormitory and stealing groceries, Reuters reported, citing local authorities.
Allied Democratic Forces is a Ugandan faction based in the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo.
“So far, 25 bodies have been found and taken from the school to the Bwera hospital. Eight victims who are in critical condition have also been rescued,” spokesman Fred Enanga said.
Bwera is located near the border with the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRCongo).
