Increased surveillance of football academies

The government wants to tighten supervision of football academies. The intention is to address the legal void that causes situations like the one that happened with Bsports in Riba d’Ave, Famalicao, where the SEF carried out an operation that found 47 victims of human trafficking. Joao Paulo Correia, Secretary of State for Youth and Sports, met with several partners on Monday to discuss the issue. A working group will be formed to submit proposals, and by the end of the year the executive branch hopes to develop a legislative package.

“We want this type of business to be on the radar of the sports authorities and that clubs that accept foreign nationals notify the sports authorities of their presence before any registration. In this preventive area, the Portuguese Institute of Sports and Youth will play a fundamental role,” he said. cm John Paul Correia.
