The price of electricity rises to 261.99 euros/MWh; 34.6% more than yesterday

The maximum price will be registered between 8:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m., with 248.80 euros/MWh; while the minimum has occurred between 03:00 and 04:00.

The average price of electricity for regulated rate customers linked to the wholesale market up 34.6% this Monday compared to yesterday, up to 261.99 euros megawatt houraccording to provisional data from the Iberian Energy Market Operator (OMIE). The maximum price will be recorded between 8:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. with 248.80 euros/MWh, while the minimum for the day, of 147.70 euros/MWh, occurred between 03:00 and 04:00.

The average price of electricity in the wholesale market this Monday it stands at 193.03 euros/MWh. To this price is added the compensation of 68.96 euros/MWh to the gas companies. Thanks to the ‘Iberian exception’ mechanism to cap the price of gas for electricity generation, the price of electricity is 12% cheaper on average. In the absence of such a mechanism, the price of electricity in Spain would be around 298 euros/MWh on average, which is 36 euros/MWh more than what we are currently paying.
