The center, promoted by the Provincial Council and the Bilbao City Council with the collaboration of the Basque Government, opens its doors after seven years of procedures. Some 30 companies, including Google for start up, already work in the center.

The International Entrepreneurship Centerlocated in Bilbao’s Torre Bizkaia, has started with the 80% of its occupied space, so that it has already been decided its enlargement starting next year, as announced by the deputy general of Bizkaia, Unai Rementeria.
The center, called B Accelerator Tower (BAT), was inaugurated this Monday in an act that was attended by the main Basque authorities and representatives of the companies that will manage it (Price Waterhouse Coopers, Talent Garden and Impact Hub) .
The Provincial Council and the Bilbao City Council, the two promoting institutions, aspire to make it a core of entrepreneurship and innovation to incubate and accelerate new technological start-ups. The center opens its doors after a journey of seven years and amid criticism for “the lack of transparency” about which companies will settle.
The BAT currently occupies four floors of the Torre Bizkaia -the old BBVA skyscraper in the center of Bilbao- and, according to Rementeria, it will be expanded to occupy other fourafter some works will begin in 2023.
Some thirty large companies and organizations are already connected to the centre, the latest Google for start upas announced today, and there are 40 “start ups” in the building.
