The continuation of the interrogation of Eduardo Cabrita and the instructive discussion of the fatal crash process on the A6 highway, scheduled for this Friday, in the court of Évora, adjourned until September, brought forward the defense of the former minister.
The information was provided to Renascença and confirmed to the Lusa agency by the former ruler’s lawyer, Manuel Magalhães y Silva, who stressed that the inspection will resume on September 4, also with the questioning of witnesses.
Eduardo Cabrita made statements before the investigating judge on the 9th, and his spokesman told reporters that the former interior minister had “clarified everything that needed to be clarified”, though he acknowledged that other lawyers could have been given more clarification.
The interrogation of Eduardo Cabrita was suspended on the day when the bailiff who accompanied the work began to observe the strike of the court workers.
Eduardo Cabrita and his then head of security, Nuno Diaz, were interrogated as defendants behind closed doors by an investigating judge at the Évora court during the A6 fatal crash trial.
These new training steps were noted by the investigating judge after the Court of Appeal of Évora (TRE) granted and partially granted, respectively, the appeals of the Association of Self-Mobilized Citizens (ACA-M) and the family.
The training phase was thus open to the three defendants, i.e. the driver of the former minister Marco Pontes, the only defendant in the negligent homicide trial whose mock debate had already taken place, and also to Eduardo Cabrita. and Nuno Diaz.
This is an optional procedural phase that can be requested by defendants or assistants and serves to test whether the evidence is strong enough to bring defendants to trial.
