Almost 20 municipalities in the districts of Castelo Branco, Santarém, Portalegre and Faro pose the highest fire risk on Monday, according to the Portuguese Sea and Atmospheric Institute.
In the northern and central hinterland and Faro, most municipalities are at very high risk.
Most of the northern, central and southern coasts are at high risk, with the exception of the Algarve region.
The fire danger defined by IPMA has five levels, from low to high, and calculations are made based on air temperature, relative humidity, wind speed and rainfall over the past 24 hours.
Weather forecasts indicate cloudy or clear skies this Monday, with occasional strong winds on the west coast and in the highlands, especially in the afternoon. A slight decrease in temperature is still expected, especially in the northern and central regions.
Maximum temperatures will range from 37 degrees Celsius in Evora and Castelo Branco to 23 degrees in Aveiro.
