This Sunday, Rock in Rio Febras announced that despite an originally planned increase in capacity, it will be necessary to limit the number of people who can access the festival, whose admission is free and will be subject to booking.
A small music festival set to take place on July 22 in Briteiros San Salvador, in the municipality of Guimarães, Braga district, caused “a huge outcry and media coverage” after it was reported that the company responsible for rock in Rio Lisbon had notified Rock in Rio Febras to change its name, claiming brand misuse and unfair competition.
In a Facebook post, the organization states that while it was able to adjust space and infrastructure to increase its originally planned capacity, it was forced to “limit the number of people who can access the festival.” .
Entry will be dependent on booking access passes, which will be available “soon” online.
“We are doing this with a broken heart, but this year we will not be able to reciprocate the immense love we receive, nor accept all those who, in our opinion, are ready to participate,” the organization laments.
“It was easy to give in to the impulse to turn Febras into an event for the masses (and brands), but we didn’t lose North,” he adds.
Speaking with Lusa on Wednesday, the president of Casa do Povo de Briteiros, the private social solidarity institution that organizes the event, realized that the festival had “taken on a scale beyond anything” that had been expected.
“We have already been contacted by groups of people who would like to tour Lisbon to ask if we have a place to sleep, to camp. people from all over contacted them saying they wanted to come, people from the parish said they would advertise rooms for rent next to the fence on the internet. It seems surreal,” said Vasco Marquez.
The second edition of Rock in Rio Febras, which starts at 4:00 p.m. and runs “until GNR arrives”, features bands such as Smartini, Crocky Girls, Ledher Blue, Juanito Caminante, Gaspea, Gordilho, Segundo Minuto, Berto, Pedro Conde and Wednesday at nine.
In an Instagram post on Thursday, those in charge of Rock in Rio Lisboa wished “all the best to friends at the Febras River Rock Festival” and suggested they were surprised by the “hype caused by the notice” to change their name.
“Friends of the Febras River Rock Festival, it was with a lot of humor and good spirits, but also with a certain sense of satisfaction that we were surprised by the fuss caused by the misuse notice sent to you. of our trademark, registered by your very funny statement, which in recent days has caused a viral wave in the media and social networks of the country,” said Rock in Rio Lisbon.
