A firefighter from the Fafe Corporation was arrested on Tuesday by judicial police on suspicion of starting several forest fires in the region over the past two years.
“As a result of the actions taken, a person, aged 31, by profession a firefighter, was identified, who, out of revenge, used a personal vehicle, as a rule, after leaving the service or the days in which he was on vacation. committed numerous arsons in rural and forest areas,” the Judicial Police said in a statement.
A 31-year-old man works on the night shift as Fafe volunteer firefighters. The Judicial Police of Braga also confiscated the detainee’s laptop. The arrest follows an investigation that began last year.
The firefighter will be transported by the Judicial Police to the Criminal Court of Guimarães. After listening to the criminal judge at the first judicial interrogation, the detainee learns about coercive measures.
