Three policemen from the Police Inspection Brigade (BFP) of the Porto Command PSP worked mainly in areas with high drug consumption and trafficking, such as Bairro da Pastelleira Nova.
It is suspected that agents who performed civilian functions between the ages of 40 and 50 kept some of the money and drugs seized during the checks.
They then used the drug to provide information to consumers in exchange for information about the identity and location of major dealers. They were detained on Thursday by the PSP.
Early in the morning the Criminal Investigation Unit (DIC) of the PSP in Porto moved in and conducted three searches of the homes of agents who work in the 2nd PSP Unit. They are charged with tax evasion, drug trafficking and embezzlement.
The investigation began last year after several complaints about the working methods of the three police officers who make up one of the teams in this unit – always in areas in the area of intervention.
Later it turned out that they broke the law: they committed crimes in order to catch the main criminals. PSP has already introduced a disciplinary procedure for them. They will be heard by a judge this Friday.
