The government announced that the fisheries and aquaculture sector has received two million euros to offset energy costs after the second tranche of application payments was made on Friday.
“795 support requests were approved, representing more than 80% of the total number of requests submitted, of which 754 have already been paid to beneficiaries, approximately one and a half months after the application deadline,” the report says. a statement was released stating that the support amounted to 2,069,652 euros.
In total, the amount paid to economic entities in the sectors of fisheries, aquaculture, processing and marketing of fish is 4.95 million euros.
This support aims to offset additional energy costs incurred by companies between February 24 and June 30 by applying 30% to the cost of average energy costs incurred by economic operators in 2019, the year before the pandemic, and which, as such reflects the normal functioning of the market.
“However, a new application period continues until October 13 for reimbursement of these same energy costs incurred by business entities in July and August 2022.”
This compensation scheme has a total amount of 10 million euros, co-financed by European funds.
Of this amount, five million euros are for the fisheries sector, 4.5 million euros for the processing and marketing of fisheries and aquaculture products and 500,000 euros for aquaculture.
The support is paid by the Institute for Finance of Agriculture and Fisheries.
