Starting this Friday, the National Republican Guard (GNR) will step up patrols and roadside checks for two-wheelers, with a focus on motorcycle congestion, the guard said.
Operation Moto II, which begins this Friday and ends Sunday, aims, as explained in the GNR statement, to contribute to the reduction of traffic accidents, guarantee the flow of traffic and support all road users.
GNR will focus mainly on motorcycle-related events such as the 41st International Motorcycle Gathering at Vale das Almas in Faro starting this Friday and ending on Sunday.
According to the guard, a significant increase in motorcycle traffic is expected on the main access roads to the Algarve region.
“Because of their size and media coverage, they are events that cause a large influx and concentration of participants and spectators, creating significant restrictions on normal traffic on major road axes and direct access to exhibition areas,” the GNR said in a statement.
