National competition for access to higher education kicks off next Monday, and when it comes to choosing courses, employment is not the most important thing for students, promotes this Friday Public.
The numbers show that young people are not taking into account unemployment data when applying to universities, since the 20 courses with the most graduates enrolled in employment centers were all filled last year.
Researcher at Universidade Lusófona Orlanda Tavares quoted by Public, explains that employability “is not the deciding factor” in choosing a course, as at this time young people take into account other factors such as vocation, personal interests or family influences. On the other hand, students continue to use the “employability argument” when deciding whether to enroll in higher education.
