The GNR opened a disciplinary process against the soldiers who were involved in the arrest of the suspect early Sunday morning in Monte de Caparica, Almada. The police action, where you can see the punches and kicks of the military, was filmed and the video was widely circulated on social networks. The process was sent to the General Inspectorate of Internal Administration (IGAI).
According to the GNR, around 4:00 a.m., the military became aware of the shots fired in the Bairro Branco area and quickly rushed to the scene. Upon arrival, they encountered a man in his 30s who was driving dangerously and fled when he noticed the presence of the NDP. After a police pursuit, the suspect stopped the car and continued on foot. At some point, he jumped over the wall and fell. It was at this point that the military managed to stop him and attack him. A white weapon was seized from the suspect.
