Nine bodies found after fire at home for the disabled in France

French authorities have recovered nine bodies after 11 people went missing in a fire at a home for people with disabilities in Winzenheim, France. The blaze forced the nursing home to be evacuated, and there are still records of two users requiring medical attention. Missing were the warden and 10 adults with mild cognitive impairment who were vacationing in the house.

The general secretary of the Upper Rhine department, Christophe Marot, said the missing people would be dead. “Unfortunately, there are not many doubts: all these people were in the house and could not leave,” he explained.

Second BFMTVAuthorities have already found ten bodies.

“Despite the quick and courageous intervention of the firefighters, which I appreciate, there are a few casualties. The operation continues,” French Interior and Foreign Minister Gerard Darmanin tweeted.

The warning was given around 6:30 am (5:30 am in Portugal). More than 70 firefighters are on site fighting the blaze, which has already been brought under control.

According to the TV channel, 17 people were taken out of the building, one of whom had to be taken to the hospital, and the other to be treated on the spot due to a state of shock.
