The President of the Republic was already in Monsanto this Thursday morning and is on his way to Alcantara to visit areas flooded by heavy rains. Several parishes in Lisbon are completely flooded, and victims have already been registered in Alges.
“I wanted to give the victim’s family a big hug. One victim is enough to cause great pain,” said Marcelo Rebelo de Souza. CMTV🇧🇷
“Let’s see what happened in other areas of Lisbon, but the most painful thing was what happened to this woman in Alges,” the president continued.
Regarding flooding of roads and infrastructure, Marcelo mentions that “there is a problem that occurs in an important part of the city and occurs when there is no drainage solution in the city. When I was mayor, this also happened, and over time it got worse,” he said.
The mayor of Lisbon is also visiting several areas affected by the rains this evening.
