Coach Filipe Martins said this Friday that Casa Pia’s main goal is to ensure a “quiet” persistence in Football League I and reaffirm its status as a first national level emblem.
“We want this to be a season of confirmation for the team in the I league. We’re going to start from scratch, forget about what happened last year, whether positive or negative, and once again establish the team in the championship. and we want to achieve this with maximum peace of mind, that is, going beyond the danger zones,” said Filipe Martins.
The 45-year-old coach, who is preparing to start his fourth season for the Lisbon emblem, spoke to reporters at the Pina Manique Stadium at a press conference ahead of Saturday’s duel with Farense in the first round of the First League in the Algarve.
“It will be a difficult game, as is traditionally the case in San Luis. But we are motivated. We did a really good job in the pre-season and now we want to bring it to the league. It will be a game with special characteristics, as it will be the middle of August, with heat and where a large number of people are expected,” he said.
Regarding the possible departure of some players before the end of the transfer market close (August 31), Filipe Martins explained that the club is ready for this situation and that he does not expect new signings.
“Of course, we coaches would prefer the market to be closed already, but we are ready for any surprises. The squad is very well assembled, the players are calm,” he said.
For now, like last season, Casa Pia will continue to play away from Pina Manique and will host opponents for the moment in Rio Mayor after they played at home at the Estadio Nacional last season in Oeirace.
“We are completely calm. This is our reality, for us it is no longer even a topic for conversation. I do not hide the fact that it would be better to be closer to our fans, but everything is fine with us,” he concluded.
Midfielder Rafael Brito and striker Kiki Silva will miss their First League debut and trip to Faro due to injuries.
The Farense-Casa Pia match is scheduled for 18:00 Saturday at the San Luis Stadium and will be officiated by referee Bruno Vieira of the Lisbon Football Association.
