American singer Madonna has rescheduled her international ‘Celebration’ tour due to health concerns, but no change in two concerts scheduled for November in Lisbon, promoters Live Nation and Ritmos & Blues have announced.
The “Celebration Tour” was supposed to start in July in Canada and the United States, with shows through October, but with a change in schedule, the new tour starts in Europe on October 14 in London.
In Lisbon, Madonna is supporting two previously announced dates: November 6 and 7 at the Altice Arena in Lisbon.
The North American leg of the tour will begin on December 13 in New York, USA.
The tour was suspended at the end of June due to a bacterial infection while the American artist was admitted to the intensive care unit for several days.
“‘The Celebration Tour’ will chronicle Madonna’s creative journey over four decades and pay tribute to the New York City where her musical career began,” the statement said.
Madonna, who celebrates her 65th birthday this Wednesday, last performed in Lisbon in January 2020 as part of the Madame X European Tour, which took place in smaller and more intimate venues.
The “Madame X” tour and the self-titled album that served as its motto were creatively influenced by Madonna’s experience in Lisbon in previous years, where she came into contact with Portuguese and Latin culture.
