Porto announce the signing of Alan Varela

Porto have announced the signing of midfielder Alan Varela from Boca Juniors.

The contract with the 22-year-old Argentine has been signed until 2028. The transfer was closed for eight million euros plus three for goals.

In a conversation with the official website of the club, the football player expressed his joy at the strengthening of the blue and white. “I am very happy to be joining a big club like Porto and looking forward to meeting my new teammates and the possibilities of the club… I am very happy. I’m going to get to work immediately to see if I’m worthy of the master’s trust this weekend,” he said.

“Signing for a great club like Porto makes me extremely motivated and I look forward to wearing this shirt. I promise to sacrifice myself for the team, I want to play as many matches as possible and I will try to be 100% in all,” Alan Varela assured.

The midfielder also thanked the Porto fans for the positive reaction to his visit to Dragau. “Thank you to the fans for the welcome messages, I am very happy to come here and hopefully together we can achieve our goals,” the player emphasized.

The President of Porto explained the reasons for the delay in confirming the transfer. “This player has been mentioned for a long time, we have been in talks and Boca Juniors asked a lot that they come true only after the match with Libertadores. We understand the situation and it is with great pleasure that we fulfill a long-standing desire,” said Pinto da Costa.

“We have great hopes for Alan Varela and I am convinced that with the team that we lead by Sergio Conceição, we will bring a lot of joy and moments of joy to our fans,” concluded the president of the blue and white badge.

Alan Varela, who trained at Boca Juniors, made his debut in 2020 for the main team of the Argentine club. In total, he added two goals and four assists in 111 games, winning the league, Copa Argentina, two League Cups and the Super Cup.
