The fire broke out early Wednesday morning in the thickets of Nelas, Viseu. Two firefighters and three civilians were injured.
“Two firefighters suffered injuries and sprains, and three civilians were intoxicated. Two were sent to the hospital, and the third refused to go,” Dao Lafoins, a source in the Viseu sub-regional command, told Lusa.
The alarm was received at 12:24.
The fire has three active fronts and resulted in the closure of the N231 road connecting Nelas with Seiya. Traffic can be carried out on the roads N234 or N231-2.
There are 464 operators on site, supported by 137 vehicles and three aircraft (there were 13).
The fire “still does not threaten” any place, a source from the sub-regional command of Viseu Dau Lafoins told Lusa on Wednesday, “although it is moving towards Portela and Señorim”, in the parish of Canas de Señorim, municipality of Nelas, Viseu area.
