Prosecutors have archived an investigation into BE MP Mariana Mortagua’s collaboration with media under exclusive regime in Parliament, according to information Lusa had access to this Tuesday.
In April, the State Ministry confirmed the launch of an investigation following a complaint about it.
The case led a Parliamentary Transparency Committee to a conclusion, approved in July, that Mariana Mortagua had corrected a breach regarding her reporting obligations.
In a letter sent to the deputy by the Constitutional Court, this supreme body notes that “in view of the clarifications provided, the prosecutor’s office did nothing more”, attaching an appropriate order dictating the end of this process.
On the day this investigation was announced, Mariana Mortagua stated that she had become aware of it through the media, expecting that this investigation would come to the “same conclusion” as Parliament, that there was no wrongdoing on his part. or illegal activities. .
In June, Alexandra Leitao, chairwoman of the Commission on Transparency and the Status of Deputies, reported that the Constitutional Court (CC) had asked the Assembly of the Republic to clarify the declarative obligations of a BC deputy, also confirming that the request for clarification was made by the public ministry in relation to the same parliamentarian.
At the end of the following month, this commission approved by votes for all the benches, with the exception of Chega, who abstained, an opinion stating that “although Ms. Mariana Mortagua did not declare in her register the interests of the XII and XIII Legislative Assemblies, which carried out the activities of the columnist JN and the SIC commentator, this violation was eliminated when at the end of XIV years before the mandate and exercised in conjunction with the parliamentary mandate, which was missing”.
