In the first half of this year, TAP posted a profit of 22.9 million euros, an improvement of 225 million euros compared to the same half of last year, which recorded a negative result of 202.1 million euros.
The airline’s statement adds that, looking at the second quarter alone, profit from April to June was 80.3 million euros. During the same period, a loss of 80.4 million euros was recorded.
For the first six months of the year, the airline achieved positive results for the first time since the publication of the half-year results (2019).
In a note, the company notes that “this good result is based on strong growth in operating income”, which amounted to 1.9 billion euros, an increase of 600 million euros (+44.3%) compared to the same period in 2022. On the other hand, costs rose by 36.6% to 1.798 million euros, which allowed TAP to improve its operating result for the first half from 4.4 to 108 million euros.
