PVP crew members clarify that a new strike will take place no earlier than December 27

TAP crew members will not strike until December 27, the National Union of Flight and Civil Aviation Personnel (SNPVAC) explained on Wednesday, reminding the “Portuguese diaspora” who visit their families.

“Taking this opportunity, we inform you that there will be no strike until the next December 27 inclusive,” the SNVAK said in a statement.

The trade union structure said that the strike during the Christmas period would affect the Portuguese diaspora, which visits their families.

The trade union noted that all passengers deserve respect and professionalism, although they do not cease to be in solidarity with “hundreds of thousands of our compatriots who, due to a variety of circumstances, were forced to emigrate to improve their living conditions.”

On December 6, SNPVAC at a general meeting decided to schedule at least a five-day strike until January 31.

In a memo published this Wednesday, the union once again demanded that TAP management comply with signed agreements, namely the Temporary State of Emergency (ATE) agreement, “already too painful for TAP crew members, as their systematic non-compliance causes financial damage to TAP revenues” . crew members.”

On December 8, the crew announced the first day of the strike, which, according to the company, resulted in 117 out of 148 scheduled flights.

TAP executive president Christine Urmier-Widener acknowledged the following day that more crew strikes “would be very harmful to the company and the country” and reaffirmed the company’s willingness to negotiate with the union.

“We are available for all possible discussions with SNPVAC, we respect the right to strike, […] but we also want to sit down at the negotiating table in order to avoid new actions as much as possible, because it would be very harmful for the company, for the country, and also to think about all the Portuguese taxpayers who have invested in the company,” the person in charge said in statements to journalists in Lisbon airport to assess the two-day strike of TAP flight attendants.
