A PPP patrol in Peniche caught two people at the scene this morning stealing a car with which they were preparing to steal tobacco machines.
The patrol detained only one of the persons, who was 51 years old. Another suspect managed to escape and is in an unknown location. Both are suspected of stealing five tobacco machines from establishments and are suspected of stealing a tobacco van last week when they coerced the van’s driver.
This last crime is being investigated by the Judicial Police, since this crime has a different criminal structure. This Friday, the detainee will be present in the court of Peniche for the application of enforcement measures.
Last week, a PPR patrol in Peniche also detained two Georgian citizens, aged 35 and 45, who were stealing from a car in the area of Atugia da Baleia and Baleal. Both were detained and taken to a criminal judge.
As a measure of coercion, they were subjected to preventive detention, for which reason they were sent to a prison in Leiria. The criminal investigation judge will not listen to the detainee this Friday, because he has retired to the dungeons of the PPR post in Caldas da Rainha and will be present in court this Saturday.
