Former Prime Minister Duran Barroso said this Saturday that next year’s European elections should be the PSD’s “immediate priority”, calling for the party, which he said has “authority and authority”, to be mobilized to talk about Europe.
“In the SDP, we are par excellence the party of Europe and we should be proud of it,” said the former President of the European Commission at a session at the SDP Summer University on the topic “Europe and the World: Challenges and Perspectives”.
At the end of his first speech, Durau Barroso made sure to mention a few words about the PSD, the party he led from 1999 to 2004.
“The SDP has the experience, authority and confidence to talk about the European Union,” he said. Therefore, he urged, the party should be mobilized for the European elections on June 9, 2024.
“We must prepare our teams, have a message for the country and say how we will implement the national project in conjunction with the European project,” he asked.
Durán Barroso said it was a short-term task and an “immediate priority” for the PSD, urging the party to know how to “build the future” based on its history in European affairs. “The future is not tomorrow, it is today,” he stressed.
