Swedish referee Glenn Nyberg will take charge of the match between Slovakia and Portugal in Bratislava on Friday as part of the fifth round of qualifying Group J for the UEFA Euro 2024, UEFA announced on Tuesday.
This will be the first time that a Swedish referee, international since 2016, will referee a Kinas first team match scheduled at the National Football Stadium in Bratislava.
34-year-old Glenn Nyberg will be assisted by compatriots Mahbod Beigi and Andreas Söderkvist, while the video referee (VAR) will also be Swede Adam Ladebeck.
Portugal will face Slovakia in Bratislava on Friday before hosting Luxembourg in the Algarve three days later on Monday.
After four rounds, the team leads Group J with 12 points, adding only wins, ahead of second-place Slovakia with 10 and Luxembourg, third, with seven. Bosnia-Herzegovina and Iceland each have three points, while Liechtenstein remains at zero.
The first two places in the group give direct access to the final phase of the European Championship, which will be held next year in Germany.
