This Tuesday, coach Roberto Martinez called all the players to the second training session of Portugal, which is preparing for Friday’s clash with Slovakia in Bratislava to qualify for Euro 2024.
At Cidade do Futebol, in Oeiras, after starting on Monday at half-gas with just 13 players, Martínez had 24 called-up players at his disposal, including captain Cristiano Ronaldo and striker Pedro Neto, a newcomer to the selection of the Spanish coach.
Goalkeeper Lui Nascimento (young 20) joined Diogo Costa, Rui Patricio and José Sa as goalkeepers.
In the first 15 minutes of the media-open training session, the national team did their usual warm-up drills, first without the ball and then with the ball.
Portugal will face Slovakia in Bratislava on Friday before hosting Luxembourg in the Algarve three days later on Monday.
After four rounds, the team leads Group J with 12 points, adding only wins, ahead of second-place Slovakia with 10 and Luxembourg, third, with seven. Bosnia-Herzegovina and Iceland each have three points, while Liechtenstein remains at zero.
The first two places in the group give direct access to the final phase of the European Championship, which will be held next year in Germany.
