This Wednesday, Portugal continue to prepare for Friday’s Euro 2024 qualifying clash with Slovakia with a new training session at Cidade do Futebol in Oeiras, the last training session on Portuguese soil before leaving for Bratislava.
The selection session, led by Roberto Martinez, is scheduled for 18:00, with the first 15 minutes open to the media. Earlier, at 17:15, a player who has not yet been appointed will attend a press conference, also at Cidade do Futebol.
On Tuesday, the Spanish coach called out all 24 players, including captain Cristiano Ronaldo and striker Pedro Neto, a new addition to Martinez’s school.
This will be Portugal’s last session at home as they travel to Slovakia on Thursday and train in Bratislava for their Group J matchday five.
The Slovakia-Portugal match is scheduled for 20:45 local time (19:45 Lisbon) at the National Stadium in Bratislava, the referee will be Swede Glenn Nyberg.
Three days later, on Monday, Portugal hosts Luxembourg in the Algarve.
After four rounds, the team leads Group J with 12 points, adding only wins, ahead of second-place Slovakia with 10 and Luxembourg, third, with seven. Bosnia-Herzegovina and Iceland each have three points, while Liechtenstein remains at zero.
The first two places in the group give direct access to the final phase of the European Championship, which will be held next year in Germany.
