The European Union’s Laptops for Ukraine initiative has delivered the first batch of more than 1,000 pieces of equipment to Ukraine, Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said this Wednesday.
“Our Laptops for Ukraine initiative has delivered the first batch of more than 1,000 devices to Ukraine,” the President of the European Commission wrote on Twitter.
Ursula von der Leyen added that this initiative will allow “affected regions to stay connected”, and this was made possible thanks to “people from all over the EU”: “This once again demonstrates our solidarity with Ukraine.”
The Laptops for Ukraine initiative aims to ship more than 13,000 laptops, smartphones and tablets to war-hit areas of the country.
The project, supported by the European Commission, includes the donation of equipment at 17 collection points in Belgium, the Czech Republic, Germany, Estonia, Spain, France, Lithuania, Hungary, Romania and Slovenia. It is planned to create additional collection points.
Citizens can also apply to the Commission to arrange for the transfer of larger donations.
