‘We all miss you’: British royal family pays tribute to Elizabeth II on anniversary of her death

This Friday, King Charles III thanked the British people for their love and support on the first anniversary of the death of Elizabeth II, who died aged 96 at Balmoral Castle, her summer retreat in Scotland, after 70 years in power.

“As we mark the first anniversary of His Majesty’s death and my accession to the throne, we remember with great affection his long life, his dedicated service and all that he meant to so many of us,” the king said.

“I am also deeply grateful for the love and support shown to my wife and I this year as we do our best to serve you all,” he added.

Prince William and Kate Middleton paid tribute with a private church service to honor the life of Elizabeth II.

“We all miss you,” the couple wrote on social media.

Prince Harry was photographed at St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle, where the Queen is buried and where he married his wife Meghan in 2018.

Fireworks went off in London and across the country. Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said the nation’s thoughts will be with King Charles III and his family on his “solemn birthday”.
