Deborah Peralta, 25, died July 17 from an alleged medical error. The family accuses the doctors who removed the gallstone of negligence.
The young woman was working at Santos Populares in Lisbon when she became ill. Deborah complained to her mother about pain in her kidneys.
After enduring pain for a week, Deborah went to the San Jose Hospital in Lisbon and was eventually sent back to the Capuchin Hospital, where she was forced to go on a diet in order to undergo a diagnostic test.
On July 9, the young woman went home. The family reports that the young woman was very thin and sallow.
On July 10, Deborah went to the Curry Cabral Hospital in Lisbon, where she underwent a diagnostic examination the next day. The young woman was hospitalized from July 11 to July 16, without her family knowing any information about her clinical condition.
On July 16, the girl underwent surgery. The instrument used to remove the gallstone opened when it was removed and punctured the young woman’s intestines, the family said.
Deborah died on July 17th. The young woman is left with two minor children: a four-year-old and a five-year-old.
The family has already reported the incident to a lawyer. They are now waiting for reports to proceed with the complaint.
