Ten areas of mainland Portugal are under a yellow warning this Saturday and Sunday due to a forecast of rain and thunderstorms, the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) announced.
The areas of Castelo Branco and Guarda are under a yellow warning from 18:13 to 21:00 this Saturday.
On Sunday, the two areas will again be under a yellow warning from 12:00 to 21:00.
The IPMA also placed the areas of Porto, Viana do Castelo and Braga on a yellow warning for Sunday from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm due to the forecast of heavy rain and thunderstorms, and in Santarem, Coimbra and Leiria between 9:00 am and 21:00 pm :00.
The Viseu area is under a yellow warning from 12:00 to 18:00 on Sunday, and Aveiro from 9:00 to 18:00.
On Sunday, the IPMA also placed several areas under a yellow warning due to the risk of strong winds from the southern quadrant of the coast with gusts that could reach 80 kilometers per hour.
This is the case with Braga, Coimbra, Aveiro, Leiria, Viana do Castelo and Porto.
The forecast of heavy seas with waves up to 4.5 meters high in the early hours and Sunday morning in the districts of Braga, Coimbra, Aveiro, Leiria, Lisbon, Viana do Castelo and Porto also prompted the IPMA to issue a yellow signal. warning.
A yellow warning, the least severe on a scale of three, is issued by IPMA whenever a risk situation arises for certain activities depending on the meteorological situation.
